Most of the roads in Wales offer very good driving conditions. But in the rural areas there are many small, picturesque lanes that are off the beaten track and require a little extra care when driving.

If you fancy something a little quirky, there’s also the Great Little Trains of Wales, a narrow-guage steam railway system that includes nine separate railways. Or the postbuses, which as well as delivering post to more rural areas of Wales will drop passengers off en route. For more information, visit the Postbus Site.
A comprehensive network of buses covers most of Wales. The three main operators are Arriva Cymru, First Cymru and Stagecoach.
A number of small shuttle buses, which run throughout Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia, include the West Wales Poppit Rocket, the Coastal Cruiser and the Snowdon Sherpa. Pembrokeshire Coastal Bus Services
A great way of getting around Wales is with a Flexipass. One ticket gives you unlimited access to all of Wales’ mainline train services and almost every bus service. In addition, ticket holders get a range of other benefits, including 'two for one' entry or discounted admission to many of Wales’ biggest tourist attractions.
Alternatively, you can use "Hop on Hop off" tours, where you can jump on and off buses as you wish. Or try an organised Wales tour, and visit the highlights of Wales with a qualified guide and likeminded people. Check out our Backpacker Tours information here.
